Michael G. Booth of Sarasota was traveling north on 15th Street East about 8:30 a.m., and at the intersection with Innovation Way he traveled through a ditch and top of a cement culvert. The vehicle, a 2005 Jeep Liberty, struck a utility pole on the east shoulder of 15th Street East.
The vehicle eventually came to a rest in the driveway access to the Holiday Inn at 8009 15th St. E., according to a report.
Booth was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Troopers said Booth was not using a seatbelt, and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
