MANATEE -- An East Manatee pharmacy Thursday was robbed by a man who demanded pills, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 1:10 p.m., the suspect passed a note to the pharmacist at the Sweetbay grocery store at 5201 33rd St. E., Bradenton, demanding prescription pills. The suspect said he was armed but no gun was seen, according to a news release.
The pharmacist provided the suspect with an undetermined amount of pills, and the suspect then fled out of the store. He may have left the area on a bicycle, according to the sheriff's office.
Responding deputies could not locate the suspect.
The suspect was described as being in his 40s, standing about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt, jean shorts and a dark ball cap.
