SARASOTA -- A Bradenton veterinarian has been charged with providing a woman with prescriptions for drugs he knew were not for her animals but for her own use, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
Walter Kallenbach, of the Cortez Animal Clinic, 4020 Cortez Road W., faces three charges of using fraud to provide prescription medications, according to arrest documents.
The prescriptions were for tramadol, valium and xanax, according to the report.
Sarasota police in April began investigating Kallenbach after the woman, Kelly Lynn Varrasso, tried to fill the prescriptions in Sarasota. Varrasso was arrested in Bradenton on May 6. She was released from the Manatee County jail after posting bonds totaling $3,000.
