MANATEE — The Manatee County Sheriff's Office was looking for the suspect in a stabbing early Sunday, according to Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 4:05 a.m., the victim and the suspect — identified by the sheriff's office as Fredy Rochael Lopez Cotton, 23, — got into an argument at a residence in the 3500 block of 20th Street West. During the argument, which possibly was about a cell phone, Lopez Cotton pulled a knife out of his pocket and stabbed the victim. He then fled on foot south on 20th Street West, according to a news release, and was not located.
Lopez Cotton and the 31-year-old victim are acquaintances, according to the sheriff's office.
The victim was driven to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. His condition was not immediately available.
