A traffic crash in Parrish sent a family of four to hospitals in St. Petersburg, according to the Manatee County Department of Public Safety.
The accident occurred at 9:52 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Erie and Old Tampa roads, when a vehicle crashed into the family's van. Another vehicle was also struck in the accident, according to a news release.
Florida Highway Patrol was investigating, but the Public Safety Department said one of the drivers may have run a red light.
The entire family was taken to either Bayfront Medical Center or All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, including a 10-year-old boy who was flown by helicopter due to injuries to his abdomen and hip. His sister and his parents suffered less serious injuries.
Neither driver of the other vehicles was seriously injured and did not require hospitalization.
