MANATEE — A 19-year-old man was arrested Sunday following an altercation with a juvenile, the sheriff’s office reports.
Maelie Jean-Pierre and another suspect struck the victim with an unknown object at about 1:40 a.m. in the 1800 block of 18th Street East in Palmetto, the report said.
During the altercation the suspects “forcibly removed” the victim’s phone, an report stated. The victim managed to get away and fled to a friend’s house.
He was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital by his parents and treated for head injuries, wounds to his right hand and a broken arm, the report stated.

Jean-Pierre and another other suspect were arrested. Jean-Pierre was charged with armed robbery and resisting arrest without violence. He is in Manatee County jail and is being held without bond.
No information was provided about the other arrest.
