MANATEE -- Deputies were looking for a suspect who tried to rob a Bradenton business and then made his getaway by carjacking a vehicle, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 9:05 a.m. Friday, the suspect rode up on a bicycle to Alligator Auto Insurance, 1403 57th Ave. W., and entered the business armed with a handgun. He demanded money and when a person in the business stood in his way "and said shoot me," the suspect struck him in the head with the pistol, a news release states.
The suspect fled west on 57th Avenue West and the victim gave chase in his vehicle, eventually striking the bicycle at 16th Street West and knocking the suspect to the ground.
The suspect ran north and forced his way into an occupied vehicle at the 7-Eleven store at 5640 14th St. W.

"The suspect told the driver to get him out of there and the driver told him no, and to get out of the car," the release states.
The driver drove him a short distance, before the suspect got and fled the scene, according to the sheriff's office.
The suspect was described as being about 25 years old, and standing 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was wearing a black bandana, a ball cap and dark clothing, and was carrying a backpack.
