MANATEE — A 19-year-old pregnant woman’s unborn child died after a two-car crash Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Bradenton woman, who was 7 months pregnant, was a passenger in a Hyundai Elantra driven by a 48-year-old Bradenton woman, an FHP release states.
The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. when a Ford pickup heading northbound on 14th Street West struck the passenger side of the Elantra, which was making a left-hand turn onto 60th Avenue West.
The impact of the crash caused the Elantra to hit a pole before coming to rest, a trooper said.

It took rescue crews 16 minutes to free the pregnant woman from the wreckage, according to a firefighter with Ceder Hammock Fire Rescue.
The 19-year-old was last reported in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center, according to FHP. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
The 48-year-old, who was in serious condition, faces charges of violation of a right away while making a left turn, the release stated. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol was not involved, according to the release.
The 19-year-old male driver of the pickup had minor injuries. He is from Sarasota.
