MANATEE -- A man was robbed of the vehicle he was driving by a couple he had given a ride after leaving a Bradenton bar early Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The victim told deputies he was leaving the El Paisano bar, 5803 15th St. E., about 2 a.m. when a man and woman asked for a ride home to the 500 block of 63rd Avenue West. When they arrived, the woman removed the victim's wallet from his back pocket and took $75. The man took the keys and cell phone from his front pocket, according to a news release.
The suspects then fled in the vehicle.
The man was described as standing about 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing jeans and a tan polo shirt.
The woman was described as being about 25 years old, standing 5 fee, 10 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. She was wearing white pants and a white T-shirt.
There was not a description of the vehicle in the sheriff's office report.
The stolen vehicle belonged to the victim's roommate. He had taken it without the owner's permission, according to the sheriff's office.
