BRADENTON -- Three suspects robbed a woman of the clothes she was wearing and her jewelry at 2:53 a.m. Wednesday, leading Bradenton police officers on a chase that ended when the suspects avoided capture by stopping the vehicle and fleeing.
The woman told officers that the suspects had picked her up at the Cheers bar on First Street West and later pulled a shotgun on her, demanding her jewelry and her clothes, according to a report.
The woman ran to a nearby officer after the suspects unlocked the car, the report stated.
The perpetrators robbed the 33-year-old woman in the parking lot of the Bantam shopping plaza in the 2200 block of 14th Street West, Bradenton.
The woman gave a description of the get-away vehicle, allowing officers to discover the suspects traveling north in the 2300 block of Ninth Street West.
Officers tried unsuccessfully to get the suspects to pull over, the report states.
With officers in pursuit, the suspects made several turns, going out of Bradenton city limits and ultimately bolted from the vehicle in the 5400 block of 17th Street Court East.
Three police officers joined with a K-9 crew from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, but efforts to track down the suspects were unsuccessful, according to the report.
In retracing the course of the pursuit, officers found a shotgun and rifle that were apparently thrown from the suspects’ vehicle in the 900 block of U.S. Highway 301.
