MANATEE - Deputies had to hit a suspect three times with a Taser before taking him into custody, and he then still was able to kick out the rear window of a patrol cruiser in an apparent attempt to escape, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 10:38 p.m. Tuesday, deputies had made a traffic stop of a vehicle in which Randy Bernard Baldwin was riding, according to a news release.
A warrants check revealed that Baldwin, 25, was wanted out of Sarasota County. As deputies tried to arrest him, Baldwin resisted, and deputies had to stun three times with Tasers, according to the sheriff's office.
After he was checked at Manatee Memorial Hospital for any lasting effects from the Tasers, Baldwin was being taken to the county jail when he kicked out the rear window of the patrol car in an apparent escape attempt.
Baldwin was being held at the jail on charges of escape, felony criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
