MANATEE — A 47-year-old man was hurt early this morning after two people, including a man armed with a shotgun, forced their way into his apartment and robbed him, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 12:10 a.m., the victim, who rents a room with private access in the 300 block of 61st Avenue East, was awakened by a knock on his door. When he opened the door, he saw a woman and a shotgun-wielding man, according to a report.
The suspects forced their way inside, causing the resident to fall down. The male suspect then kicked him and demanded money.
The victim said he didn't have any, but the male suspect went to a dresser and found money, according to the sheriff's office.
On his way out, the male suspect struck the victim with the butt of the shotgun and said he "needed more money," the report states.
The suspects fled in an unknown direction.
