MANATEE - A 55-year-old wheelchair-bound woman was robbed while crossing Cortez Road on Thursday evening, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The woman was crossing the street at 26th Street West about 8:36 p.m., when another woman grabbed her purse as she ran by. The robber continued running north on 26th Street West.
The victim had to cross the street to locate her son inside the Sweetbay supermarket on the southeast corner of the intersection in order to call 911 about 30 minutes after the robbery.
Deputies searched the area but did not find a suspect. She was described as being in her 20s and having dirty blond hair. She was wearing a black jogging suit with green stripes.

The victim's purse contained $15 in cash, $1 in change, a Florida identification card and a Visa debit card.
