A 23-year-old man was arrested Saturday and faces drug trafficking charges after he was found with more than 30 grams of crack cocaine, 3.5 grams of marijuana and nearly $1,600 in cash, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
Ryan Ward, of Sarasota, is facing charges of trafficking in cocaine between 28 and 200 grams and possession of marijuana under 20 grams, according to the police department.
About 1:45 a.m. Saturday, police officers conducted a traffic stop for a tint violation on a vehicle that Ward was driving near the intersection of 17th Street and North Washington Boulevard.
Once they pulled him over, officers said they could smell marijuana and asked Ward to step out of the vehicle.
During a search of Ward, officers said they found 32.5 grams of crack cocaine, 3.5 grams of marijuana and $1,590 in cash. It was confiscated as evidence and Ward was arrested and transported to the Sarasota County Jail.
