Bradenton Police are searching for a man they believe kidnapped and beat a woman over the weekend.

Andrew Evans, 45, of Bradenton, allegedly started beating his ex-girlfriend's car with a piece of wood until she opened the door. He pushed her over to the passenger side of the car and drove off - detaining her for a couple of hours, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

The woman jumped out of the moving car, and Evans stopped and beat her again, a police invetigator said. The suspect then dropped her off at the hospital at 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

Evans, who has several other arrest warrants - including a violation on an injunction for domestic violence, told police he "made a mistake."

Evans has refused to turn himself in and is considered dangerous. He told authorities he would "take as many police out," if they attempted to arrest him.

Evans is 5-foot-10, weighs 200 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. He may have a full beard.

Anyone with any information on Evans' whereabouts can contact Bradenton Detective James Curulla at 932-9311 or remain anonymous by calling Crimestoppers at (866) 634-TIPS. E-tips can be submitted to www.manateecrime stopppers.com.
