LAKEWOOD RANCH -- With little more than a month to go before Florida voters decide Nov. 4 if they want to legalize medical marijuana, a question not frequently asked is: How will the referendum on Amendment 2 affect local businesses?
This potential medical marijuana situation, along with possible unintended consequences in the workplace will be the topic of the panel discussion, "Clearing the Air on Medical Marijuana," for the Lakewood Ranch business community 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance and the Manatee Chamber of Commerce event will be held at the Polo Grill in Lakewood Ranch.
Moderated by Chris Wille, Editorial Page Editor for the Bradenton Herald, the panel of experts also includes: Manatee County Sheriff Brad Steube, lawyer Matthew Westerman, State Coalition Director of Drug Free Committee Inc. Dr. Jessica Spencer, AltMed President and CEO David Wright and Richard Thompson, vice president of claims with Zenith Insurance Co.
Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance spokesman Dan Sidler said the goal is to inform business owners about the implications for employees in the workplace should the referendum pass.
