The Manatee High School Student Council organized a blood drive Saturday in honor of the shooting victims at an Orlando nightclub, said Abigayle Fritz, a Manatee High student and student council spokeswoman.
The Pulse nightclub in Orlando had been under police custody as part of the investigation into the June 12 shooting that left 49 victims dead and injured 53 patrons. The club was returned to its owners Wednesday.
“The Orlando shooting was such a recent tragic event and Manatee High just wants to show its support and awareness for the lives lost,” Fritz said.
The five-hour blood drive concluded at 3 p.m. Saturday at Manatee High School, 902 33rd St. Court W., Bradenton.
