One person was rescued, but a passenger is missing after a car plunged into the water off a busy St. Pete Beach street early Thursday.
According to officials, the crash happened just after 3 a.m. near Shark Tales Waterfront Restaurant at 75th Avenue and Sunset Way.
Two people were in the car when it went into the water at Blind Pass near the restaurant and one person was rescued, according to Pinellas County Sheriff's Office officials.
Pinellas EMS crews and Fish and Wildlife officials also responded to the scene. Crews used sonar equipment underwater in their search.
The vehicle was located and hoisted out of the water by a small crane just after 8 a.m.
Deputies are still investigating what may have caused the crash.
