The National Weather Service sent out a hazardous weather outlook warning Saturday morning for coastal Manatee and Sarasota counties for scattered thunderstorms over the next week.
Separate lightning strikes caused a fire on Pine Island Preserve on Friday night, according to the Bradenton Fire Department, and downed wires near a residential area east of U.S. 301 Saturday morning, according to the Emergency Communications Center.
The thunderstorms will also bring high winds and rainfall.
According to Bay News 9’s Klystron 9, the forecast for the coming week will be 30 percent to 50 percent chance of thunderstorms.
For the month of June, Bradenton experienced 8.24 inches of rain, according to Bay News 9, most thanks to Tropical Storm Colin earlier in the month. The Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport had an average reading of 83.4 degrees, which was 2.6 degrees above normal.
