A 95-year-old Sarasota man was seriously hurt when he fell out of his car in his driveway and was struck by the vehicle, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
About 11:53 a.m. Monday, the man’s 2014 Acrua RDX was parked in his driveway in the 2500 block of Riverbluff Parkway, when he shifted into reverse and then tried to retrieve a pair of glasses that had fallen, according to a news release.
“This caused the driver ... to fall out of the vehicle,” which then began to roll backwards striking the driver, the report states.
The vehicle’s open door then struck the wall of the carport before coming to rest in the front yard of the house across the street, FHP said.
