A 56-year-old Palmetto woman was killed when the 1998 Jeep Cherokee she was riding in collided with another vehicle at 8:24 p.m. June 16, the Florida Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
Charges are pending as FHP investigates whether alcohol played a role in the fatal crash, according to a report.
A Jeep driven by a 38-year-old Palmetto man was southbound on U.S. 41 north of 35th Street West in the left-turn lane while a 2000 Ford Excursion driven by a 19-year-old Bradenton woman was northbound on U.S. 41 north of 35th Street in the center lane.
The Jeep turned left across the northbound lanes into the Excursion's path, according to FHP, and violated its right of way.
