A Palmetto man is in critical condition at Manatee Memorial Hospital after a traffic accident at 9:53 a.m. Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Palmetto man’s 1992 Oldsmobile Calais was stopped northbound in the left-turn lane of U.S. 41 at the intersection with 23rd Street East. Turning left on a green light, the Oldsmobile was struck by a 2003 Acura driven by a 26-year-old St. Petersburg woman with a 36-year-old female passenger from Bradenton.
The Acura occupants suffered minor injuries, according to FHP and were taken to MMH.
Alcohol is now suspected as a factor in the crash.
