Manatee County Utilities Department has issued a precautionary boil water notice for the Palmview area north of Palmetto as crews install a water main tie-in Wednesday.
The notice affects customers from along U.S. 41, between Bayshore Road and Palmview Road.
While Palm View Elementary School, 6025 Bayshore Road is in the affected area, regular drinking water at the school will not be affected, according to a news release. Only the fire line to the school will be off.
"The water will be shut off from 1:15 p.m. until 4:30 pm" Wednesday, the news release states. "Customers are advised that once service is restored, all water used for drinking or cooking should be boiled as a precaution. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used."
Never miss a local story.
The notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows the water is safe, which normally takes 24-48 hours. A rescission notice will be issued when the notice is lifter.
