Harvest Festival 2016 offers wine stomping Saturday
BRADENTON -- The Rosa Fiorelli Winery and Vineyard and the American Cancer Society are teaming up for Harvest Festival 2016: Pick for the Cause and Stomp for the Cure at 4250 County Road 675 E., Bradenton, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
New owner Dave Vines said a Mediterranean toga party starts at 5 p.m. Saturday. Attendees can pick grapes from the botanical vineyard and stomp them in a huge tank.
"We've always been the Harvest Festival, but this year I wanted people to get the full Italian effect," Vines said. "People can literally pick the grapes and then bring them over to an 8-foot stomp tank and stomp it out."
Other activities include tours, wine tastings, food and activities for children.
The event is free. Organizers are asking for donations for the American Cancer Society.

Sarasota County School District chooses new logo
SARASOTA COUNTY -- The Sarasota County School District is introducing a new logo for the 2015-16 school year Monday.
The logo depicts a stylized book, sun, palm tree and ocean waves, reflecting the district educational mission and its environmental setting on Florida's Gulf Coast, school officials said in a press release.
Above the palm tree a bird soars in the sky, symbolizing learning helps each student reach his or her full potential.
The new logo was presented to the Sarasota County School Board at a work session Aug. 18.
Online communications specialist Mina Ajrab, a 2002 graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design who has worked for the district since 2007, led the development and design team.
