FWC to cut daily grouper bag limit in half this spring
MANATEE -- The Florida Wildlife Commission has changed the red grouper bag limit for the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Manatee County and elsewhere from four to two fish effective this spring.
The FWC Commission approved changing the Gulf red grouper daily bag limit pending similar regulations taking place in Gulf federal waters.
Until then, the red grouper bag limit in state waters of the Gulf of Mexico, excluding Monroe County, will remain at four fish per person per day.
When red grouper season reopens in Gulf federal waters Jan. 1, the federal bag limit will be four fish per person per day until the two-fish bag limit rule becomes effective.
