Osprey Bridge work to complicate boat, car travel
SARASOTA -- Crews will begin to inspect the Osprey Bridge over Hudson Bayou on Monday before soliciting bids to hire a new contractor for the Lift Station 87 project.
Crews will survey the area, including the waterway, and conduct geotechnical investigations. The city wants confirmation of the depth of the bridge foundation before finalizing design plans. Crews are expected to be working in the area until mid-February 2015.
Periodic lane closures near the bridge will be necessary, however, traffic will be maintained on Osprey Avenue with a flag person directing vehicles.
A coffer dam also will be temporarily installed in the bayou. The waterway will remain open to boat traffic, however, vertical clearance under the bridge will be temporarily reduced.
Information: Call Steve Topovski, project manager, 941-365-2200, ext. 6221 or go to LiftStation87.com.
