MTI students barber people in need at Hope Portraits
MANATEE -- Manatee Technical Institute barbering student Charles Green was one of more than 40 volunteers Saturday at the annual Hope Portrait event at the First Baptist Church in Bradenton.
Students gave hair cuts, styles, make-up and nail services to 35 people in need who had their photos taken for free.
"The people who came were really appreciative," said Green. "Helping people out is why I got into barbering in the first place."
The MTI students performed the cosmetology services as a community service project for SkillsUSA.
