MANATEE -- Manatee County's primary Veterans Day observance begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, starting with a parade at Manatee County Fairgrounds, 1402 14th Ave. W,, Palmetto. The parade will proceed down 10th Avenue to Sutton and Lamb parks at Sixth Street West, where there will be a service at 11 a.m.
Keynote speaker is retired Brig. Gen. Rich Blunt; guest speakers are U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Longboat Key, and Rep. Jim Boyd, R-Bradenton. Don Courtney, president of the Manatee County Veterans Council, will present the Veteran of the Year Award to Brig. Gen. Jerry Neff and the Auxiliary Member of the Year Award to Frances Dewart, a 24-year member of the Kirby Stewart American Legion Post 24 Auxiliary, where she has served as president. Grand marshal of the parade will be Air Force veteran Jody Britt. Korean War Veterans Chapter 199 will present the colors.
Support our Wounded Warriors: 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Mixon Fruit Farm, 2525 27th St. E., Bradenton. The public is invited to line the tram route and wave to the Semper Fi riders. The honorees will have lunch after the tram tour.

Veterans Legacy Summit: National leaders convene in Sarasota for multi-day (Nov. 14-15) conference designed and hosted by the Patterson Foundation to build connections benefitting veterans and military families.
