Lemur Reserve offers free open house Saturday
MYAKKA CITY -- The Myakka City Lemur Reserve is having its annual open house from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.
The reserve is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the primates of Madagascar through captive breeding, scientific research, and education.
Planned at the free family-friendly open house are food and beverages, lemur-themed games and fun.

Manatee County legislative delegation to meet
MANATEE -- The Manatee County legislative delegation will meet 8:30 a.m.-noon Nov. 14 at Selby Auditorium at USF Sarasota-Manatee to discuss issues and legislation pertaining to Manatee County and the 2014-2015 legislative session.
The delegation will be represented by Sen. Arthenia L. Joyner, Sen. Bill Galvano, Rep. Darryl Ervin Rouson, Rep. Jim Boyd and Rep. Greg Steube.
Also, Manatee County is represented by both the Senate's majority and minority leaders, Sen. Galvano and Sen. Joyner.
Groups and presenters will be placed on the agenda in the order that Steube receives their information for presentation.
Presenters need to provide Steube's office with 18 copies of the information they wish to provide to the delegation members. The information must be collated and three-hole punched.
Informational material must be turned into Steube's office, 722 Apex Road, Suite A, Sarasota, FL 34240 by 5 p.m. Nov. 10. There will be no exceptions.
