Meet the Manatee High School varsity volleyball team, which brought the Hurricanes to their first region tournament since 2007.
And as for the team itself, they exemplify the values that coach Tony Cothron has worked to instill since day one. If they fall behind or rally for a late comeback, whether they're out on the court or cheering from the sidelines, they do so together, as a family.
After sweeping Tampa Wharton last Tuesday in the Class 8A-Region 2 quarterfinal, they'll be hosting Palm Harbor University on Tuesday in a semifinal match. And if the last few matches have been any indication, a standout crowd of friends, family and peers will undoubtedly be there to help cheer them on.
Kudos to the lady Hurricanes and all of the role models who have helped them along this season. When success and failure are measured in mere seconds, a little solidarity can go a long way.
