BRADENTON -- Bradenton City Councilman Patrick Roff will be the guest speaker at the 11:30 a.m. Oct. 3 meeting of the Women of Manatee County Republican Club.
Social time for the meeting starts a half-hour before the guest speaker begins at noon at the Bradenton Country Club, 4646 Ninth Ave. W., Bradenton.

Fed program helps ag biz conserve natural resources
MANATEE -- Florida farmers and ranchers have until Nov. 21 to apply for financial assistance in fiscal year 2015 through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program to improve soil, water, air, plants, animals and related resources.
Through EQIP, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service contracts with agricultural producers to help implement conservation practices addressing natural resource concerns.
Eligible lands includes cropland, rangeland, pasture, private nonindustrial forestland and other farm or ranch lands. The application process for conservation programs is continuous but funding selections are typically made once a year.
Producers from Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, DeSoto, and Hardee counties are invited to a Farm Bill meeting in Arcadia at the Turner Center at 6-8 p.m. Sept. 30.
