The last three weekends I've found myself at Lakewood Ranch High School for Friday night football, trying to send in as many pictures as possible before that ever-present 10 p.m. deadline.
Despite the slogging rain last Friday for the game against nearby rival Braden River, there's been a spectacular run of school spirit, and not just at Lakewood, but all across Manatee County.
Here's to all the other unsung players who work together to help create the timeless spectacle of Friday night football.
From the cheering parents dressed in school colors on down to the roadside ticket sellers and concession volunteers, it's a sight to behold.
From generation to generation, sunset after sunset, the band plays on.
And for a few shining hours, as dusk gives way to the welcome cool of night, everything is as it should be.
