BRADENTON -- Main Street Live attendees expecting to join the Old Main Street festivities the third Thursday of September will have to wait a month this year.
Rick Willats, president of the Old Main Street Association, said September's volatile weather was the deciding factor in adjusting this year's schedule.
"They cost a lot of money to put on," said Willats. "That's why we decided not to do any in September."
The first Main Street Live event will take place Friday, Oct. 31.
Never miss a local story.
Days of the week for this year's events also will vary. Willats said some third Thursdays will still be used in November, February, April and May.
During the other months, Main Street Live will be scheduled around other activities.
For example, Willats said the third Thursday in December is too close to Christmas and the combination of Main Street Live and St. Patrick's Day will be celebrated on a Saturday.
Willats said scheduling will fluctuate and attendees should check the schedule once it has been released.
According to the city of Bradenton, no event applications have been filed, but Main Street Livegoers can check the Bradenton Herald's event calender, which will post all dates once scheduled.
