SARASOTA — Eight Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office members were honored Tuesday for heroics during two different incidents this spring.
Sgt. Brigit Leonard and deputies Patrick Schurr, Jason Smith, Daniel Levanti, Jack Gurney and Stacey Eve were recognized for saving a Sarasota woman trapped under a vehicle in April. They lifted the car so she could be pulled to safety and treated for her injuries.
Deputies John Blomgren and Shandra Polynice were recognized for rescuing and reviving a woman found unconscious in a pool at her Sarasota home in May.
“These individuals performed well under pressure and saved lives in some intense situations,” said Sheriff Tom Knight.
