PALMETTO - The man known as the Human Beat Box, rapper Doug E. Fresh , had the crowd on its feet, the cooks were getting ready to feed them after all that exercise.
Fresh showed off his ability to grab an audience at Sunday's finale of the Gulf Coast Rhythm & Ribfest at the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto.
"He's genuine old school," Carlton Evans, one of the Ribfest workers, said of Fresh.
Ribfest officials estimated the three-day crowd will exceed 10,000 when the count is complete.
As for the ribs, they were the real stars of the weekend show as customers lined up to buy them from two Bradenton rib experts, J & J Bar-B-Que and T & L's Bar-B-Que and a handful from out of town, including Carolina Rib King, Johnson's Hickory Smoked Bar-B-Q and BBQ Masters.
