MANATEE — Contract talks are continuing between Manatee County and a union representing its emergency medical service workers, officials said Wednesday.
Both sides reported that they were making progress in the talks, which are slated to reconvene Friday at County Administrative Center.
“We’ve just been steadily going through the different articles they have proposed to us,” explained Rob Eschenfelder, deputy county attorney, who is representing the county in the negotiations.
“They’ve proposed articles on recognition of the union, rules and procedures, how the county would develop rules and procedures, and how they’re applied to EMS staff on dues deduction,” he said. “And we have submitted an article to them on physical fitness standards.”
