MANATEE -- Thick fog was expected to envelop Bradenton and the rest of Tampa Bay until about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Visibility is down to a half-mile or less in many areas of Manatee, Sarasota, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
"Motorists should slow down, use low-beam headlights or find an alternative route," the Weather Service said. "Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing visibility within the fog bank.
Once the fog lifts, showers are likely.

The Weather Service says there is a 70 percent chance of showers Tuesday, especially before 1 p.m.
Otherwise, skies will be mostly cloudy with a high near 73. Winds will be southwest at 13 to 16 mph, before becoming northwesterly in the afternoon. Gusts could reach 22 mph.
Tuesday night's low will be about 51, with north-northwesterly winds of 7 to 10 mph.
