The National Weather Service has issued a "special weather statement" advising of a line of thunderstorms expected to hit parts of Manatee County.
At 3:10 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms located along a line extending from 12 miles northeast of Lake Manatee State Park to Lake Manatee State Park, or along a line extending 19 miles south of Fish Hawk to 16 miles east of Palmetto to 12 miles east of Palmetto to 11 miles northeast of Sarasota.
The system was moving northwest at 10 mph.
It was expected to affect Parrish, Sun City Center, Wimauma and Little Manatee River State Park. Also covered by the statement is Interstate 75 between State Road 70 (Exit 217) in Manatee County and Ruskin (Exit 240) in Hillsborough County.

The storms could include gusty winds of 35 to 45 mph, torrential rains and frequent lightning.
