The Aug. 6 Manatee County commission meeting on Long Bar Pointe proved one thing ... that if enough voters get together to fight any change that would alter the quality of life for all Manatee residents and not just benefit the few, then voter backlash trumps special interest campaign contributions.
The voters who were against the changes to growth management didn't stop all the changes at the meeting but voters at the ballot box will!
Voters have at least learned two things from all this.
1. Coming out in huge numbers to oppose special interests makes politicians nervous.
Never miss a local story.
2. To start voting for commissioners who will vote in the best interests of all the people of Manatee County, not just the wealthy special interests.
