Regarding the developers of Long Bar Pointe and their request to change the county comprehensive plan: Since this is a very serious issue with potentially far-reaching consequences for many while benefiting very few, why not put it up for a referendum vote in the next general election?
That way the people get to decide and the commissioners are off the hook to their contributors (see http://www.bradenton.com/2013/06/09/4560620/long-bar-pointe-developers-donated.html)
Or, the commissioners could do the right thing and tell the developers "sorry, no way is this going to happen."
As this is a classic "no brainer," there is no need to drag this out any further and waste more county resources. We have a comprehensive plan, it is a good one, and it needs to be adhered to.
