BRADENTON The city of Bradenton issued a Boil Water Notice starting at 11 p.m. Tuesday. The Bradenton Public Works & Utilities Department met with residents and businesses today to discuss the pending water shut-off and boil notice.
The city must repair a broken water valve on Cortez Road. Repairs will begin around 11 p.m. Water will be turned off for about three hours. Water used for drinking or cooking must be boiled until further notice. There is no harm in bathing or washing clothes and dishes in water that isn’t boiled.
The notice is not expected to last more than 24 hours. Water samples will be taken 24 hours following the repairs to determine if it is OK to cancel this boil water notice.
There is little chance repairs will introduce any harmful elements into drinking water but the city is required to issue a boil water notice followed by extensive testing of the water quality. Go to cityofbradenton.com for updates.
