BRADENTON -- On Tuesday, State College of Florida trustees are expected to choose an interim president.
Former President Lars Hafner left the college Oct. 30 with a $363,000 severance, and Vice President of Academic Quality and Success Jack Crocker automatically became acting president, according to state statutes. Trustees said they wanted to look for an outside person to serve as interim president until a search process could be completed.
But since Crocker had already announced a January resignation, trustees voted on Nov. 27 to name Carol Probstfeld, vice president of business and administrative services, interim president until a more permanent interim is chosen.
On Tuesday, trustees are set to choose another interim president from among these candidates:

Recent experience: Former interim president for the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, former interim commissioner of higher education, Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning
n Ronald W. Ogrondnik
Recent experience: Interim transformational president at DeVry University in Orlando and St. Louis, Mo., former Post University president

n Len O'Hara
Recent experience: Former president of Paducah Community College, now called West Kentucky Community and Technical College, currently a senior consultant for The Clements Group in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Recent experience: Former president of Florida Keys Community College, former interim president at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas and McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Ill.
n Kathie S. Sigler:
Recent experience: Currently the president of Higher Education and Technology Consultants in Miami, former interim president for Miami-Dade College.
Also at Tuesday's meeting, trustees will select a consulting firm to assist in the search for the new president. They hope their final selection will begin July 1.
As of Friday, the following firms had submitted proposals:

n ACB Search, Washington, D.C., $65,000 plus travel
n Hockaday-Hartford, Cary, N.C., $35,000 plus travel (not to exceed $4,000)
n National Search & Education Consulting, Broadway, N.C., $29,500 plus travel (not to exceed $2,500)
n R.H. Perry & Associates, Washington, D.C., $52,000 plus travel (estimated at $5,850)
