The city of Anna Maria is providing sand for those who want to fill sandbags to protect their homes in case of flooding caused by Tropical Storm Isaac.
The city has a location at Bayfront Park, along North Shore Drive, where its residents may fill sandbags as needed, said Alice Baird, the city clerk for the city of Anna Maria.
The city has also been handing out hang tags to its residents that allow homeowners to bring one vehicle back to Anna Maria Island should the storm flood the area, she said.
"During the last four days, we've given out 29 hang tags," she said.
The city is also putting up barricades in preparation for the storm, she said.
Anna Maria City Hall will be open Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to help its residents, she said.
The telephone number there is 941-708-6130 Ext. 21; residents may also consult the county's website, www.mymanatee.org, which will have all the latest news, she said.
