Jazz drummer Paul Fournier breaks into a smile as he plays with the State College of Florida Jazz Ensemble during the Courthouse Square concert series last week. There’s something other-worldly about watching a musician caught in the middle of an intense jazz groove -- when the beats don’t always fall exactly where you might expect, yet everything feels like it’s exactly where it needs to be. While nimbly transitioning into and out of these moments, Fournier reminded me that downtown Bradenton is starting to find its own special kind of groove. Kudos to Realize Bradenton for bringing events like this to our beloved downtown streets. Catch the next lunchtime concert this Wednesday on the square -- at the very least, it’ll help take your mind off all the traffic mayhem.
