BRADENTON — The City Council unanimously approved at a special meeting today an agreement with Manatee County to participate in the Ware’s Creek flood control project.
The agreement was needed before the county commission on OKs the Project Partnership Agreement with the U.S. Corps of Engineers to do the dredging and waterway rehabilitation project.
The Ware’s Creek project has been in the works for more than 25 years, but it’s been only in the past week or two when the actions of several government entities, especially the Corps of Engineers, that has raised the hopes of some the project will be completed.
“We waited a long time to get the Ware’s Creek project started,” Mayor Wayne Poston said before the meeting. “Approval of the agreement shows we’re ready to move forward.”
