Ongoing construction at the State Road 64 and Interstate 75 interchange means one of the I-75 northbound exits to a main artery of Manatee County is closed until further notice.
The project aims to reconstruct the interchange by widening interchange ramps and State Road 64 as well as installing sidewalks and bicycle lanes on State Road 64, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
The I-75 northbound exit 220A to State Road 64 was closed at 11 p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed until further notice, FDOT said in a news release.
Drivers should use exit 220B to reach eastbound or westbound State Road 64 until the interchange is reopened.
In addition, northbound lanes of I-75 will shift to temporary lanes toward the median during the overnight hours on Sunday.
Message signs will be in place to alert drivers of the ongoing construction, according to FDOT. Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area.
The project is estimated to be completed in late 2019. The contractor for the project is Prince Contracting LLC, who also completed the University Parkway diverging diamond interchange.
