A hit-and-run crash closed two lanes of Interstate 75 in Venice for hours Thursday morning.
The roadway was clear and reopened with traffic flowing smoothly at 9:30 a.m., Florida 511 traffic cameras showed.
However, as of 7:10 a.m. Thursday, the left and center lanes of Interstate 75 northbound near mile marker 191 before River Road in Venice were closed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol’s live traffic map. The shoulders were blocked as of 8:30 a.m. and an hour later, the road was reopened.
A hit-and-run crash occurred in the area around 6 a.m. Thursday, prompting the shutdown of the lanes, according to FHP.

While the lanes were closed, traffic was backed up beyond Toledo Blade and vehicles were reduced to one lane to pass the scene of the crash.
