Help is on the way for those still struggling with food resources after Hurricane Irma.
The Department of Children and Families will begin its Food for Florida operation in Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties starting Friday.
Qualifying individuals and families will receive food assistance when they visit participating locations.
The program runs Oct. 13-17 at Westfield Sarasota Square mall from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Irma victims in Sarasota and Charlotte. DeSoto Square mall will host the program for Manatee County Oct. 15-17 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The food assistance program is under federal guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service.
