On the second day back to classes, a Manatee County school bus was involved in a crash Friday morning.
Joyce Stump said she heard the crash around 7:15 a.m.
“Kabango! I heard it so I jumped out of bed,” she said.
The crash happened at the intersection of 18th Avenue East and Morgon Johnson Road. The front end of the school bus was damaged, its grill sitting on the side of the road. A white pickup truck appeared to have its front right side smashed in, according to pictures Stump provided to the Bradenton Herald.

The bus monitor was the only person injured, said Mike Barber, spokesman for the School District of Manatee County. Six students were on board on their way to Braden River High School. The roadway was opened by 8:41 a.m, said Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Greg Bueno.
Stump said she has tried to get action done through traffic studies after several crashes happened in the area but to no avail.
According to Bradenton Herald archives, three cars crashed near a school bus stop at that same intersection in 2012.
