Ten fire-engines responded after a small fire broke out between floors in an apartment building in Bradenton Thursday.
At about 12:15 p.m., Cedar Hammock Fire Department was dispatched to the 3800 block of Lake Bayshore Drive to reports of a fire alarm.
Firefighters arrived and discovered a small fire between the 4th and 5th floor of the apartment building, according to EMD Division Chief Mike Dechelbor. Because of the size of the apartment building and therefore the potential of the fire to get away from them the fire was upgraded to two-alarm.
Additional units from Cedar Hammock and city of Bradenton Fire Department responded. Southern Manatee also send one unit to assist if needed.
Within 15 minutes, when the 10th fire-engine arrived on scene, the fire had already been extinguished.
The cause of the fire will be investigated by Cedar Hammock.
“With the exception of the one apartment, we don't have any smoke damage,” Dechelbor said.
Residents in the building stood outside midday as they watched the crews clean up the scene.
No injuries were reported.
